NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Ovid Town Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2016 Budget at 7:00 PM on Wednesday October 14, 2015 at the Community Room of the Ovid Fire House, 2136 Brown St, Ovid, N. Y.. The budget includes General Fund Townwide, Highway Fund Townwide, General Fund Outside Village, and Highway Fund Outside Village appropriations.
The Tentative Budget has been filed with the Town Clerk and may be viewed at the Town Clerk’s office at 7099 Orchard Street in Ovid during regular business hours prior to the public hearing.
The proposed salaries of elected officials are set forth in the General Fund Budget as follows:
Town Councilman - 4@……………. $1779.00
Town Clerk…..…………………………. $9168.00
Town Justice ………………………… … $6180.00
Highway Superintendent………………. $50,686.00
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, at the aforementioned time and place, all interested residents will be afforded an opportunity to submit written and/or oral comments on the Tentative Budget.

Did you know?
Did you know that New York State Law requires all dogs older than 4 months to be licensed? Licensing ensures that all dogs have been properly vaccinated against rabies for the protection of both you and your neighbors. The license also makes it much easier to locate the owner of a lost dog when he or she is found. Any dog living with you for more than 30 days must be licensed.
Why is the Town conducting an enumeration?
EDUCATION. Lots of people are simply not aware that they’re required to license their dogs.
We are conducting a dog enumeration to determine more accurately how many dogs are harbored in the Town of Ovid.
How can you license your dog?
It’s simple. You’ll find a license form on the bottom of this add. Follow the directions included on the form and either mail it back to us or drop it off in person. We’ll send you a license and dog tag, and every year we’ll mail you a letter reminding you to renew the license. If you have more than one dog, either make a copy of the form for each dog you own or call us and we’ll be happy to mail you the number you need. Alternatively, you can simply write the information down on a separate piece of paper.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION
AT THE AUGUST 12, 2015 MEETING OF THE OVID TOWN BOARD THE TOWN ADOPTED THE FOLLOWING POLICY:
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY PETIONERS TO THE OVID TOWN BOARD WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE (3) MINUTES TO SPEAK.
DURING A PUBLIC HEARING THE LIMIT WILL BE INCREASED TO FIVE (5) MINUTES.

IN THE UPCOMING MONTHS YOU WILL SEE OUR HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS INSTALLING POSTS AND SIGNS WITH HOUSE NUMBERS ON PROPERTIES IN THE TOWN OF OVID. THESE SIGNS WERE PROVIDED BY A GRANT THROUGH GREATER ROCHESTER HEALTH FOUNDATION AND ARE CRITICAL IN AIDING EMERGENCY SERVICES IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. THEY WILL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REGULATIONS SET FORTH IN THE TOWN OF OVID BUILDING STRUCTURE PROPERTY EMERGENCY NUMBERING ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE TOWN BOARD ON MAY 13, 2015.
